PDT’s design of the Seaside Museum provides an open plan, natural-lit space for the community and tourists to enjoy exhibits showcasing the local history and a unique preserved fish collection. The museum also houses a micro cinema for the screening of documentaries and movies related to these collections. The curators plan to use the workshop area provided in the back of house spaces to restore and preserve items on-site for possible future use within the museums collections. When opened, these areas will increase the capacity of the museum to hold up to 100 people attending any one event. Internal spaces flow smoothly to an external deck where the guests can enjoy a coffee and look over the Pumicestone Passage sitting on the waters edge. PDT provided architecture, interior design and landscape architecture services for the musem, which was completed in December 2009.
