Regis Chelmer

In a location like Chelmer, the design brief was to create a high-end, warm and intimate community and offer residents a place to grow in comfort. The new 120 bed ageing in place facility is designed with consideration of the existing 1890s heritage house, large fig tree and existing private residential homes surrounding the area.

The three-storey building’s central core is based around an internal courtyard, with views from communal areas on all levels. This feature allows the use of full height glass and allows natural light into the building that responds to the wellbeing of the residents. A wing within the building is devoted to Dementia Care, with 45 beds, separate living area, dining area and external courtyard.

Regis Chelmer also incorporates a ground floor lobby, staff facilities, commercial kitchen and laundry, sales area, activities room, cinema, day spa, hairdresser, café and family room for use by family and visitors. A cocktail lounge and external balcony on Level 3 offers magnificent views of the surrounding community and overlooks the river. The existing heritage house can be accessed directly from the new building and was beautifully renovated to offer a library, lounge area and private dining area to residents.
