Construction has finished on the new General Learning Centre and associated works at Runcorn Heights State School.
Growing student numbers and increased teaching staff called for a requirement of additional learning spaces and amenities. PDT was appointed by Queensland Department of Education (DoE) to design a new 2 storey General Learning Centre incorporating administrative facilities and teaching spaces, as well as a covered entry walkway link, 2 new carparks and new path connecting the south of the school to the neighbourhood.
The General Learning Centre envelopes a red feature tree structure, which took direct inspiration from the School’s logo and leafy contextual environment. The material palette is representative of natural tones with bursts of colour and texture, providing a playful environment for students and teaching staff. Condev Construction finalised on-site works early this year, just in time for the commencement of the 2021 school year.
