Taigum State School
PDT Architects and Lambert and Rehbein (L&R) and were engaged by the Department of Education to deliver project management and design services for the building infrastructure improvement works at Taigum State Primary School.
The development included a new two-level administration and general learning building, strategically positioned to enhance the school’s public interface. A purpose-designed Out of School Hours Care facility was included to improve accessibility for families.
The building features six General Learning Area spaces on the upper level, supporting student learning and contemporary teaching practices for Prep to Year 6. The ground floor accommodates visitor administration, staff rooms, and student amenities.
Architecturally, the 'Terracotta' coloured masonry blockwork visually connects the new building to the existing campus and highlights key access points to assist with wayfinding. Other materials such as fibre cement weatherboard cladding, vertical metal battens, and sun-shading louvres also contribute to visual integration and privacy, while all supporting reduced life-cycle costs.
