Arc Orthodontic Specialists
A Clinic Without the Clinical
Arc Orthodontic Specialist is the first practice by a new orthodontist entering the market, and the project is informed by a measured approach to investment paired with a clear ambition to deliver an elevated patient experience. The design responds to this balance through restraint, clarity, and a deliberate departure from the conventions of clinical interiors.
Working within a modest budget, the fit-out prioritises spatial quality over excess. A restrained palette of light timber, pale stone, and muted neutral finishes establishes a calm, non-clinical atmosphere. Curved forms soften the arrival sequence, while integrated planting introduces a biophilic layer that mediates scale and enhances the sense of welcome.
Departing from the convention of enclosed treatment rooms, the clinic is organised as an open-plan environment that prioritises light, views, and spatial continuity.
Full-height perimeter glazing is leveraged to maximise natural light and views, allowing the external outlook to become an integral part of the clinical experience and reducing the inward-facing nature typical of orthodontic environments.
Detailing is quiet and controlled. Joinery is seamlessly integrated to minimise visual clutter, and lighting is carefully layered to avoid harsh contrasts, reinforcing a sense of calm throughout both front of house and clinical spaces.
The project demonstrates how disciplined architectural decisions, rather than over investment can shape a contemporary healthcare environment. Arc Orthodontic Specialist establishes a refined, human-centred model for orthodontic practice, balancing commercial pragmatism with spatial generosity and design intent.
