The vision of the new Ballina Indoor Sports & Events Centre was to establish a sporting facility to attract international and national level sports of basketball, netball, futsal and volleyball competitions.

Engaged by Ballina Shire Council, PDT Architects were the principal consultant to design and deliver the project under a traditional contract with Bennett Constructions.

Due to the coastal proximity and exploration, a main design consideration was the ensure the longevity of materials in the harsh marine environment, mitigating ongoing maintenance and cost to the facility. The chosen material palette features subtle accents and a tired façade to emulate breaking waves and promote human scale to the front elevation.
